Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
