Garda-area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
