Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military-associated magazines.

These are not actually military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having money at stake, no longer shows themselves.
