Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Target Businesses for Fake Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police department.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, if they are after money, no longer show themselves.
