Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Buy Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear and are nowhere to be found.
