Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, exercise caution and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer make themselves visible.
