Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Fraudulent Calls

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or to the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would not show up again.
