Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They disguise themselves as carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or local police officers.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
