Garda-area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

P posing as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, no longer appear in sight.
