Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the military‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire department, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, no longer make their presence known.
