Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by someone who,
