Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
