Garda Community Supports Lega Bisse and Traditional Rowing Events
The agreement with the Comunità del Garda was also renewed for 2000, reaffirming its support for the «Lega Bisse del Garda». The institution believes it is important and beneficial to support the competitive efforts of many athletes and officials, committed to keeping alive the «voga alla veneta» rowing tradition on Lake Garda. The competition takes place every year on the waters of Italy’s largest lake, involving boats prepared by local groups along all the shores of the basin.
The coveted and historic «Lago Flag» is at stake, representing not only a striking and always captivating folkloric event but also serving as a unifying element for the entire Garda. It also embodies a symbol of representation and image for the increasingly international audience that comes from abroad.
Institutional Developments and Promotional Activities
With the renewal of the agreement—following the renewal of the Lega Bisse‘s board, now presided over by Franco Poli—the Comunità del Garda confirms its support, including administrative secretariat, printing and distribution of promotional materials, as well as the press office and the venue for meetings of the Lega Bisse’s executive bodies.
From the collaboration with the Comunità del Garda, last year saw the renewal of the statute, and this year the technical regatta regulations were also updated.
Additionally, with the support of the Comunità del Garda, applications for contributions have been renewed with the Regione Veneto, the Provincia di Brescia, and the Regione Lombardia. This aims to enable the regatta events promoted by the Lega Bisse—scheduled to be ten events this year—to include new elements of attraction and spectacle.
It should be remembered that the bissa boat supplied by the Peschiera group and showcased at the «Nautic Show» in Montichiari—the second largest European boating exhibition at the Centro Fiera del Garda—generated significant interest from visitors, who attended the nautical fair organized in Montichiari.
