Garda Fraud Alert: Beware of Impersonators Posing as Police Officials

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire department, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize Frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense that you have been targeted by someone who,

has money, but then disappears.
