Garda Hoteliers Targeted by Scammers Posing as Carabinieri and Police

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, on various occasions, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri—just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
