Garda-Limone Bike Path Progresses Amid Challenges on the Lake
The Garda Cycling Route is progressing at different speeds on each side of Lake Garda. While construction on the Brescia side, connecting Sirmione and Gardone Riviera, including Desenzano and Lonato, has reached over 18.6 km with an €18 million investment, the segment between Gardone Riviera and Limone faces technical and hydrogeological challenges requiring a boat-based transportation solution managed by Navigazione Laghi.
On the Trentino side, the 5.5 km bike path between Limone and Riva is under construction with costs rising from €28 million to over €79 million. A nearly one-kilometer section from the Titan’s Galleria to Aurora Galleria has recently begun tendering, and the steel footbridge at the Lombardy border is complete. By 2026, 90% of the route between Limone and Riva is expected to be contracted, with the first section from Riva to Sperone beach opening in March 2025.
