Garda Phone Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to arm-related magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
