Garda Region Fraud: Fake Carabinieri Offer Suspicious Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, disappears.
