Garda Region Scam Alert: Fake Police Calls Targeting Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, on different occasions, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but no longer shows themselves.
