Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
