Garda Region Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to arms magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, tend to disappear without a trace.
