Garda Region Scammers Pose as Carabinieri, Target Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fictitious magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
