They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, no longer make themselves visible.
