Garda Region Scams: Fake Police Contact Hotelers and Businesses
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Mid and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to arm magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
having obtained money, no longer appear.
