Garda Scam Alert: Carabinieri Impersonators Target Local Businesses
They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
after obtaining money, disappears and no longer shows up.
