Garda Scam Alert: Fraudsters Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
