Garda Scam Alert: Unmasking Fake Carabinieri Phone Calls

They pose as Carabinieri when phoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, in turn, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or titles unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
