Garda Scam Alerts: Fake Police Calls Targeting Local Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
