Garda Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to their unit’s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.
How to Recognize the Scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have no connection with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
after obtaining money, do not appear again.
