Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Fake Magazine Offers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who, if they have money, do not reappear.
