Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Phone Fraud Schemes

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or are unrelated to law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,
