Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal wardens.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, disappear.
