Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Deceive Local Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become the target of someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears and is no longer visible.
