Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to Finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune (Municipal Government).

How to recognize the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, cease to appear.
