Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be vigilant and immediately inform the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
