Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
