Garda Scammers Impersonate Police, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately alert the carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after getting the money, disappears.
