Garda Scammers Impersonate Police Officials to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

seeking money, disappears without a trace.
