Garda Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal guards.

Recognizing Scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
