Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to the corps‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance police, general police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

for money, no longer appear in public.
