Garda Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
