Garda Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, scammers contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and High Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not genuine members of the armed forces but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipal Police).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
