Garda Scams: Carabinieri Impersonators Target Local Businesses

They are impersonating carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Be aware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after getting the money, disappear.
