Garda Scams: Fake Authorities Impersonate Police to Target Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal emergency services.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
