Garda Uno Moves HQ to Historic Padenghe Building, Plans New Services
The Consorzio Garda Uno, the company responsible for sewage treatment and water purification of Lake Garda, is moving its headquarters. It will transfer from its current building in San Felice del Benaco to the more prestigious and elegant premises of the ex Cassa Rurale ed Artigiana di Padenghe sul Garda. The purchase operation was approved by the company’s general assembly held in recent days. Cost: just under 3 billion lire, financed through a ten-year lease agreement.
The relocation will be completed by the end of the year. The building, which once housed the rural bank later merged into the new Banca del Garda based in Montichiari, was designed by architect Maurizio Betta of Sirmione and is located opposite Palazzo Barbieri, the seat of the Municipality of Padenghe.
Staff, Users, and Territorial Management
Currently, Garda Uno employs 140 staff members, but this number is expected to increase due to the new members who are currently around twenty. The total population of residents and users amounts to nearly 100,000. Lonato is not included (though the newly elected green coalition seems intent on revising the decision made by the previous administration), nor Sirmione, which manages its municipal sewage system independently.
Additionally, Garda Uno is responsible for waste disposal services on the surfaces of Lake Garda and Lake Idro, a service operated with several waste-collecting boats: two on Garda and one on Eridio. The company, led by Guido Maruelli, also manages methane gas projects; for example, Tremosine is creating the first such facility based on a design developed by the technical office of Garda Uno.
Budget and Future Projects
Meanwhile, during the latest assembly, the three-year forecast budget was also approved, amounting to 37 billion lire. “With 2001,” said Vice President Mario Quecchia in his speech, “the Integrated Service for members will be launched, encompassing various systems, from waste management and water, to purification and methane gas: thus creating a multiservice company.”
Finally, a proposal for a delegation to the CdA of the company to draft a memorandum of understanding with Gardesana of Verona regarding the water plan was unanimously approved.
