Gardesana Bibliography Catalog by Domenico Fava Extends Local Literary Record
Domenico Fava, well known among Rivani residents for his valuable contributions to the Annuario della Sat, has authored (and Grafo Edizioni of Brescia has published) the second catalog of Gardesana bibliography.
The first comprehensive list of publications produced in the towns around the lake covered the years from 1984 to 1991. This second survey extends up to 1999 and features 595 monographs and 16 periodicals, arranged alphabetically by author or title.
Contents and goals of the catalog
The list, alongside works that encompass the entire Gardesana basin, includes booklets and studies of strictly local interest, published occasionally, often unavailable in bookstores and public libraries.
Thus, the vitality of Gardesana culture, evidenced by the significant number of contributions, risks being overshadowed by the fragmentation that plagues the sector, despite efforts by publishing houses and cultural associations seeking visibility beyond administrative boundaries between provinces and regions.
The role of information technology and Fava’s publication
A definite aid in this regard comes from information technology, which, through computerized cataloging of many libraries, enables discoveries unthinkable just a few years ago.
In this context, Domenico Fava’s volume becomes invaluable, as he is a teacher and passionate scholar of Gardesana history, because it allows local history enthusiasts to discover everything that others have written and published.
Events and related initiatives
If anyone wishes to view the books, they can do so following the steps of the Gardesana Book Exhibition.
