Gardesana Occidentale Closed for Safety Work Near Limone Jan 12–Feb 10
Even the stretch south of Limone on the Gardesana Occidentale, affected in early November by a landslide in Maderno, between Gargnano and Gardone, will remain closed to traffic from January 12 to February 10.
However, not for the entire day: the transit ban is in effect from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Interventions and checks on the road
The head of the Lombardy division of the Ente Nazionale per le Strade (National Roads Authority) has ordered the closure to allow for safety works on the road surface, including the remediation of the mountain slopes.
The Gardesana Occidentale, cleared of debris following the bad weather in Maderno, had been reopened just the day before a new landslide in the Rivana area tore away another section of Ponale and blocked the coastal road below.
