Gardesana Traffic in Toscolano to Return to Normal from May 25
Traffic on the Gardesana at the Toscolano bridge is expected to return to normal starting Friday, May 25. After six nights of road closures, the municipal ordinance issued by Mayor Paolo Elena will expire, declaring the ban on transit along state road 45 bis at the Toscolano bridge from 9:00 PM to 6:30 AM the following morning for Thursday the 17th, Friday the 18th, Monday the 21st, Tuesday the 22nd, Wednesday the 23rd, and Thursday the 24th of May.
Construction operations and street reopening
The suspension of vehicular traffic was necessary to carry out the construction of pedestrian and cycling bridges on the bridge spanning the Toscolano stream, the only roadway connecting Maderno to Toscolano and vice versa.
The metallic girders supporting the two pedestrian bridges were installed by the company Cosmotec of Muscoline during nighttime hours to minimize disruption for users of the Gardesana.
Traffic was not completely halted: light vehicles were still able to cross via the adjacent old bridge with alternating one-way traffic, while heavy vehicles performing emergency services or those forced to use the 45 bis for urgent reasons were permitted to pass, with brief interruptions to the work schedule.
