«Giardino d’Europa» Award to Bovo and Cacciatore Committee in Baldo
Tomorrow at 8:30 PM, the «Giardino d’Europa» award will be delivered in the council chamber of Palazzo Carlotti, during the presentation of the 11th cultural notebook «Il Baldo». The award is promoted by the CTG Monte Baldo of Caprino in collaboration with the Comunità Montana del Baldo and with the patronage of L’Altro Giornale, Baldo-Garda edition.
Award Ceremony and Motivations
The jury of the award, after reviewing the nominations received, decided to award ex-aequo the sixth edition of the prize for 2000 to Giorgio Bovo of Povegliano and the «Giugno del Cacciatore» Committee of Castion.
The «Giardino d’Europa» award was established in 1995 to recognize individuals, organizations, or associations that have distinguished themselves, in an original way, in promoting the cultural and tourist aspects of the Baldense area, spreading its image and knowledge.
The name recalls the designation «Hortus Europae» (Garden of Europe), with which the Monte Baldo was known abroad, mainly for its flora.
Motivations for the 2000 Award
The reasons for this year’s award are as follows: Giorgio Bovo, a researcher and scholar of Veronese folklore, published last year a volume of songs and popular music from Monte Baldo, titled «Oi cara mamma l’amor l’è grande», which includes 496 songs and musical pieces resulting from six years of research in the municipalities of Capri-no, Ferrara di Monte Baldo, and San Zeno.
These are true micro-events that become small stories of life and testify to the popular musical civilization of Baldense culture, which is now disappearing. The publication aims to disseminate this knowledge and also serve as an aid for further studies of the local mountain society.
’’Giugno del Cacciatore’’ Committee
The «Giugno del Cacciatore» Committee has been organizing the same-named sports, game, and cultural event in Castion Veronese for over 27 years, with charitable intentions, making the town famous for the considerable media coverage and promoting Costermano and Monte Baldo in Italy and abroad, especially highlighting its natural environment.
Other Events
As part of the event, for the last 10 years, a national competition of poetry and hunting stories has also been held, which has enjoyed great success and consistently attracts a high number of participants.
