Today, Tuesday, May 27, the territory of Alto Garda will be the stage for the 16th stage of the 2025 Giro d’Italia, which runs from Piazzola sul Brenta to San Valentino. This event will result in a complete traffic closure on the affected roads, impacting the municipalities of Drena, Dro, and Arco. The cyclists will enter the municipality of Drena via the Provincial Road 84 of Cavedine, continuing on the State Road 45 bis towards Dro and then heading towards Arco until the roundabout at Bolognano. From there, they will follow Viale Rovereto and Via Stazione, proceeding along the Provincial Road 48 of Monte Velo towards Santa Barbara and the Gresta Valley.
According to information provided by the Alto Garda and Ledro Inter-Municipal Local Police, the affected roads will be closed approximately from 12:30 PM to 3:45 PM. This stage is a true mountain challenge, with the first 50 km featuring demanding climbs and fast descents. After a flat start, the cyclists will face several challenges, including the Santa Barbara Pass, a 13 km ascent with significant gradients. The competition will culminate in a final climb of 17 km that will put the athletes to the test before the finish line.
